Sphaerodactylus copei copei: Haiti, from Valc de Trouin in west to Fond Parisien in east, and onto southern slopes of Montagnes du Trou-d'Eau and northern slopes of Morne l'Hpital; specimens from "Miragone" and Fond des Ngres questionably associated with this subspecies. Altitudinal distribution below sea level to about 3000 ft.; Terra typica: Unknown; restricted by Schwartz and Thomas, 1965, to the vicinity of Port-au-Prince, Dpartement de l'Ouest, Haiti.
Sphaerodactylus copei astreptus (HOLOTYPE USNM 194029): Haiti, vicinity of Miragone and Paillant south to Dimisaine, Dpt. du Sud. Altitudinal distribution sea level to 500 ft. Sphaerodactylus copei cataplexis (HOLOTYPE MCZ 77161): Haiti, southwestern Tiburon Peninsula and southern slopes of Massif de la Hotte; le--Vache; introduced on New Providence I., Bahama Is., and perhaps on Andros I.; intergrades with S. c. pelates in vicinity of Cavaillon. Altitudinal distribution sea level to about 3000 ft. Sphaerodaclylus copei deuterus (HOLOTYPE CM 56782): le de la Gonve. Sphaerodaciylus copei enochrus (HOLOTYPE MCZ 65128): Haiti, southeastern coast and onto southern slopes of Massif de la Selle; not known to intergrade with S. c. copei. Altitudinal distribution sea level to about 2600 ft.
Sphaerodactylus copei pelates (HOLOTYPE USNM 194030): Haiti, south-central coast and adjacent uplands of Tiburon Peninsula. Altitudinal Sphaerodactylus copei picturatus (SYNTYPES MCZ 3341-42): Haiti, northern coast of distai Tiburon Peninsula. Altitudinal distribution apparently near sea level. Sphaerodactylus copei polyommatus (HOLOTYPE MCZ 92036): le Grande Cayemite.
Sphaerodactylus copei websteri (HOLOTYPE MCZ 126088): Haiti, extreme southwestern tip of Tiburon Peninsula. INCERTAE SEDIS: Specimens from Virgile, Anse--Veau, St.-Michel du Sud, PetiteGove, and Pierre Payen are unassigned subspecifically. |
